  • Love Through The Lens.

This is the philosophy of Tara Hodgson, the woman behind the camera at TaraSierra Photography. She is not about staging moments or setting scenes, but instead committed to photographing her subjects as they truly are – happy, laughing, inquisitive, serious – resulting in photos that are authentic, real, and fresh.

Tara believes love comes in many different colors. She believes in that one fleeting moment. For her, photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving, what she captures is forever...it remembers little things long after you have forgotten everything.

Tara has been recognized as an International Award Winning Photographer and her work has been featured across the nation in both print digital media.

Dustin & Lauren. wedding bells.

Oh Dustin and Lauren, words don’t even begin to describe how amazing you two are. Good things I am a photographer and can resort to photos:)What an incredible blessing it was to be able to photograph such an amazing day in your lives.

Dustin and Lauren’s wedding and reception was held at Carnton Planation in Franklin, TN. Needless to say, the setting was gorgeous, the weather was perfect, and the couple – well, they were every photographer’s dream. Dustin and Lauren decided to do a first look so we could take as many pictures as possible around the Plantation, a choice I fully support!:)One of my best friends flew in from Idaho to second shoot this wedding with me, so that just made it even more special. I loved going through their photos for this post because each one left you with a different feeling – this is truly a couple who was meant to spend the rest of their days together. One really cool part for me is that Dustin runs an incredible non-profit out of Zambia called Zambikes. I am hoping to see him and Lauren in the next few months when I head over with Project R12 (my non-profit) while they are in Uganda – how cool is that? God is good.

D and Lo, I hope you love the photos and they remind you of how perfectly made you are for each other. It was such an honor to get to hang out and partake in your wedding day. Can’t wait to see you two in Uganda!

Dearest Friends, Followers, and Kind Hearts of the World -

2012 has been a very special year for TaraSierra Photography – and me! On top of photographing beautiful weddings, incredible families, and adorable babies; I was blessed with an opportunity to take my camera and creativity across the world to India, Africa, and Madagascar…an experience I have been itching for since my first time in Kenya 5 years ago where I fell in love with the art of photography. My heart was impacted so deeply that when I returned, I knew what the Lord was asking me to do. Project R12 is a non-profit founded on unbelievable passion – for LIFE, for people, for love, for brokenness, for happiness, for joy, for the glory of Jesus across the nations. Here is a little bit on my inspiration, passion, and vision behind Project R12.

“We live in a world that constantly floods us with the bad – catastrophes, war, death, and disease. The media inundates our TVs, computers, and phones with the negative. After spending some time traveling throughout the world, my eyes were opened to the stories, the realness, and the reality of what life really is. The unbelievable beauty of the people I experienced life with changed my perspective forever. THERE IS SO MUCH JOY IN THIS WORLD. During my travels, the stories, the passion, and the devotion I encountered humbled me in a way nothing else could. Within each community there were Christian leaders who took a stand to lead their people, to teach them, to care for them – no matter the circumstances. To me there was no other way to describe them, they were Heroes. This is when I discovered the problem, there is little to no documentation or support of these Christian Heroes’ efforts to dissolve poverty and improve LIFE for their people. They have dedicated their existence to serving the Lord by striving to improve the quality of LIFE in Health, Education, and Faith for their communities. Through worldly eyes they had sacrificed everything, but through their eyes they were simply following the call of their King. They’ve already experienced amazing results with such limited resources – what if we could stand together with them?

The mission of Project R12 is is to unlock the unknown by finding Christian Heroes throughout the world, revealing their needs through visual media, and engaging the support of the public through social media giving.

Through Project R12, people are going to be exposed to a side of LIFE that is rarely shown. I refuse to use poverty as a crutch to ensure donations. Rather I believe in being 100% transparent, providing riveting visual media, and orchestrating incredible social media giving opportunities that leave people – young and old – inspired, touched, and motivated to be a part of a high energy, effective Christian movement. Project R12 is going to be a change maker within the Christian non-profit space.”

I am donating every penny from your session to help get Project R12 up and running. I would absolutely love to photograph you, your family, your best friend, your dog, you name it! My goal is to raise $20,000 in the next 2 months to jumpstart this vision and light a spark that will ignite a fire across the world. Please see the flyer below for more information on dates and cities. I can’t wait to share with you the success of Project R12. God Bless.

Nashville Wedding Photographer

Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Hammer…

Ashley and Charlie are just made for each other, with-out-a-doubt! They were married this past December in downtown Nashville at the West End United Methodist Church and then threw an incredible reception on a rooftop building in downtown. It was incredible! We were able to do the ladies/guys shots before the ceremony while there was still light but for the bride and groom portraits we had to be creative in the church with that lovely dim light…it was an adventure and we got some beautiful black and whites with the ambient lighting in the church. Ashley and Charlie are such a great couple and I know they will have a million days of fun in the future. Enjoy the photos:)

Ali + Kev

Ali and Kevin are longtime friends of mine from college…Ali played soccer with me and Kevin was on the baseball time at the University of San Diego. In other words, they have an amazingly adorable love story. Soccer player meets baseball player and well I think the pictures speak for themselves. They got married at the beautiful Summit House in Fullerton right near sunset…both the ceremony and reception were gorgeous. I had such a blast with them and could not be more happy for the two of them! Hope you love the photos:)

Debbie Burdick( Aunt) - tara your images are beautiful… You really captured them in their happiest moments. Im sure there are many more.. How does one choose???? Aunt DebbieNovember 16, 2011 – 6:36 pm

Presenting…Mr. and Mrs. Clifton

Mary Lauren and Chris were married at the Wolf Den Farm in Brentwood, Tennessee. It was such a great day from start to finish. Wolf Den was a gorgeous spot for the ceremony and reception…the ceremony was held at dusk in a nearby pasture while the reception took place in an actual working barn that was transformed into a beautifully rustic . The bridal part table was at the center of the barn while the individual tables were in the stalls lit by a vintage hanging chandelier. Mary Lauren and H three Events did such a great job transforming the barn into a rustic but still elegant spot to eat and dance with family and friends. We did a “first look” with Mary Lauren and Chris because their ceremony was so late in the evening we would have run out of daylight. It was perfect because we got to spend plenty of time on their bride and groom photos – the best part! Couldn’t be happier for Mary Lauren and Chris, thanks for letting us join in on the fun!
